We’re very sure you already know that they’re packed with nutrients and are a better option any day as compared to junk food!

There are different types of trail mixes you can make using a variety of ingredients depending on the nuts you and your companions prefer. Some common combinations include those with almonds, cashews, walnuts, sunflower seeds, and pistachios. You can also use other substitutes like coconut shavings, dried cherries or pepitas. Additionally, we recommend you use ingredients that are unsalted for healthier results. If children are accompanying you on the road trip, you can add a fun little touch by adding chocolate chips to the mix.

Easy Bake Banana Muffins

An absolute hit with children, these tiny muffins are just like your banana bread but easier to bake and carry!

For a dozen banana muffins, use the following ingredients:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar or brown sugar
  • 1 ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 room temperature egg
  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the cupcakes, mix the dry ingredients in a bowl and then stir the wet ingredients in. You will not need a beater for this purpose, your hands are enough. Fill muffin cups till they’re half full and bake them for 20 to 22 minutes at 375°F. Once ready, let them cool for a minimum of 10 minutes, and then pack them for your trip!

Chewy Chocolate Chip Granola bars

Wait, don’t just skip through. We know granola bars sound the least appetizing, especially for a road trip that you want to spend eating the best food available. But we assure you that granola bars can taste delicious too! Just follow our recipe and you can have some versatile, easy to make, and nutrient-dense granola bars to snack on!


  • 4 cups of rolled oats
  • ½ cup wheat flour
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup unsweetened coconut shavings
  • 1 cup of chocolate chips
  • ½ tsp salt (optional)
  • 1 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl and whisk the wet ingredients in another. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and stir well. Press this mixture in a flat tin lined with parchment paper. You can then bake it in a preheated oven for around 20 minutes at 375°F. Let them cook for at least 20 minutes and then pack them for your road trip for some extra delicious snacking!

Roasted Chickpeas

One of our favorite recipes for any trip – spiced and roasted chickpeas. They’re so scrumptious and appetizing with easy steps that you’ll be shocked you hadn’t made them before! They’re also extremely healthy, packed with proteins, vitamins and fibers, making them better than roadside junk food alternatives.

To make some delicious roasted Mediterranian chickpeas:

To make these chickpeas, first rinse your chickpeas and then place them on a baking sheet. You can cover them with olive oil and rock salt and place them to bake for 30 minutes in a preheated oven. Keep stirring the chickpeas every 10 minutes or so and take them out when they acquire a golden color.

For the seasoning, use the following ingredients: salt, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, cinnamon, parsley, thyme, paprika, nutmeg, black pepper, and cornstarch. Use ½ tsp of all these ingredients which can vary depending on the quantity you use. You can then pack it in travel containers and you’re good to go!
